Camie has been a fan of anything beauty and fashion related since 2004. She makes it a point to browse through fashion magazines and online catalogs and shops to help keep her updated on the top trends of the season. She says “I was recently drawn into the world of make-up and beauty when I began investing in [more costly yet quality] products from MAC and Nars and I saw how they really enhanced my look.” But even if she has found new favorites, she still loves her go-to drugstore lines like Maybelline, L’Oreal and Revlon. She tells us that her make-up addiction was pushed by her search for the perfect “muted-pink-almost-nude lippie,” which eventually led to her coming across different beauty blogs. Her top favorite beauty guru is Tiffany D. from youtube, who is a popular favorite amongst beauty junkies in the know! Read on below to learn more about Camie’s make-up favorites!

Make-up Philosophy: When in doubt, DO! Make-up is my #1 form of self-expression and just like with clothes and any other fashion-related stuff, it really differs from person to person. It will just depend on you on how you carry your look.
1) Local Whitening Papaya Soaps (Likas, Kojie San, YSA)
I was born with really dark skin which thankfully lightened up while growing up as I lessened my sun exposure. I’m really happy with my olive skin at present, but the consecutive beach trips I had during 2010 made my skin more grey than golden. Due to this, I started experimenting with different local papaya soaps, both tried and tested (Likas and YSA) and new brands (Kojie San). Now I use them twice a day and really swear by these! They really work as long as you use them regularly. Skin comes out brighter and glowing though you’d have to wait at least 2 months to see the results.
2) Physicians Formula Concealer 101 Perfecting Corrector Duo
This is a cream to powder concealer that I have loved since my 2004 US visit. I use the yellow/light palette to cover my under eye dark shadows (yellow) & other skin imperfections (light). It works well with the different foundations that I have used in the past (Neutrogena, Maybelline, Revlon, L’Oreal, MAC) although longevity is another issue. To resolve this, I just pat face powder over it every once in a while to lengthen its coverage.
3) Shiseido Luminizing Brush Powder in #2 Beige Shimmer
This was a gift given to my mom that happened to land in my makeup collection when I borrowed it once. This product is actually used to set makeup, but I use it as my main foundation already—right after BB cream application. It provides very light coverage with just the right amount of shimmer, safe enough for an everyday, natural look.
4) Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original
For me, this is the best eyeshadow base that one can own! It holds your eye make-up for hours and intensifies the color without the oil buildup and creasing! Proven effective by yours truly and so many beauty mavens out there.
5) Maybelline Gel Liner in Black
This helps me apply eyeliner with maximum precision. It’s waterproof, and does not budge unless rubbed heavily. This product is perfect for me since I do a cat eye look almost everyday. Although I would love a more intense and opaque black as this is leaning more towards a darker grey when applied on my skin—multiple-layering did help but at times looked too heavy (and felt heavy!)
6) NARS Blush in Orgasm
For me, this provides the most natural blush of color on anyone whether you’re mestiza, morena or chinita. I love how it has gold specks infused in the powder, giving one the effect of a really healthy glow!
7) MAC Lipliner in Boldy Bare
I put this under most of my lip color to prolong its wear. This is also very close to the natural color of my lips that I sometimes use this on its own, giving me the perfect “my-lips-but-better” shade.
8) MAC Lipstick in Pink Nouveau
This is the first thing I grab when I need a pop of color. A really pretty Barbie pink that I wear almost everyday—except on the few days that it clashes with my outfit. I also love putting this on during days that I feel “ugly” as it brightens up my face immediately.
9) Maybelline Oil Control Powder in Honey
This product gets the job done! It blots out the shine and instantly mattifies your face. The “honey” shade is perfect for me and other morena girls. The best thing about it is it’s only Php 299!
10) Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Scent Spray
This is my everyday scent since it makes me smell fresh and is not over-powering. Ideal to wear in my office everyday, safe enough not to turn off my workmates too.
I’ve tried a couple of cream and liquid foundations through the years and found that I was a loose mineral foundation type of girl. Trying different brands and formulas was exhausting because I wanted something lightweight with full coverage. I nearly resigned myself to the idea of never finding my perfect foundation UNTIL I found this product. This product that I could very well sing about. (Or so I’ve said once or twice.) Safe to say, I have found my holy grail for foundation.
The Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation.
The tube carries 1.18 oz. for P1850 and worth every single cent. This foundation goes along way and gives you buildable coverage, depending on how much you need it. It’s light and easy to apply with either a brush or your fingers. I enjoy the consistency a lot more than liquid foundation, as well. It reminds me of a light, creamy concealer. A small setback is that you end up having to shake the tube every so often since the product tends to separate over time.
It dries to a luminous (my weakness) dewy finish so if you have the tendency to be oily, it’d be best to set this foundation with a powder. I personally prefer to just set the center of my face to still keep that beautiful glow. I love the effect of this product on its own! It’s moisturizing and hydrating but not oily which is something most people will definitely appreciate. It diminishes fine lines and makes your skin look flawless and healthy.
I could go on and on about how much I love this, but you guys really need to see for yourselves! I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a full coverage foundation that doesn’t feel like a mask. Let me know what you think of this, I’d love to hear from you!
Good to be back! Talk soon.

Make-Up Philosophy: Coco Chanel once said “The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you!”I totally agree. Know the colors that look great on you and work with them!
1) Benefit Erase Paste Concealer – Medium
Since I have dry skin, this product’s paste-like texture is really perfect. It blends so well, doesn’t crease and acts as a primer too.
2) Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact – Bronze
I’m a big fan of bronze and gold shades. This shimmery palette is great because it can be used for both eyes and cheeks. It can also contour, highlight and give an extra glow.
3) NYX Super Skinny Eye Marker – Carbon Black
Just like a felt tip marker, it glides and is really easy to apply. Doesn’t smudge too!
4) Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Hands down to this. It curls lashes like no other.
5) Maybelline Volum’ Express Hypercurl Mascara – Very Black
This works for me coz I need volume more than length. Very affordable and easy to find!
6) Nars Blush – Torrid
It’s a combination of pink and orange. Looks great on my skin tone, both in person and in pictures!
7) Maybelline Angel Fit Powder/Foundation – Healthy Ochre
Since I’m a morena, it’s been really hard to find a powder compact that matches my skin tone. Until this line made just for Asian skin came out. It’s not heavy, has SPF and comes in very cute packaging.
8) MAC Satin Lipstick – Paramount
This is my all-time favorite lipstick. It’s a bit dark for everyday use but I feel really dressed-up every time I have this on.
9) MAC Lipglass – Hearts-a-Beatin’
This is from MAC’s Sassy Coral Lipglass Set from their Tartan Tale Holiday 2010 Collection. For me, this lip gloss looks fantastic on its own and on top of any shade of lipstick.
10) Bare Escentuals Loose Powder – Mineral Veil
The “finishing touch” to my everyday make-up. This translucent powder gives a smooth, flawless finish. I can’t live without it!

Hi everyone! We’re glad to see Tumblr up and running again after it was down for a couple of days due to some internal issues. I’m sure all you Tumblr addicts out there are equally relieved!
In other news, we are introducing a new segment that will be a regular part of our blog. “What’s In My Make-Up Bag” will literally be a brief feature of the contents of one’s make-up bag, may it be their daily essentials or all time favorite products. We love to see what others have in their bags (because we’re nosy like that haha), so we realized that everyone can benefit from learning about other people’s go-to items, and hopefully you can pick up a trick or two from the fabulous people that we will feature. We’re very excited about this new segment because it allows us to interact more with our readers and at the same time, it gives us more knowledge on our favorite subject—make-up!
We also have a couple of new additions and changes that we will be posting about here soon. Stay tuned!

Kiehl’s is finally open in Manila’s biggest mall.. Mall of Asia!
I attended the opening of their newest store last week along with my good friend, Stacy. It was the official ribbon cutting ceremony of Kiehl’s second branch in the Philippines (the other branch is located in Greenbelt 5)!
The lovely team of Kiehl’s gave us the opportunity to drop by the store and pick out products using the coupons they gave us upon entry! I was so excited!
The Kiehl’s Philippines team toasting to their brand new store!
The MOA branch still had the fresh, homey interiors that Kiehl’s fans all know and love. The shelves were packed with their tried and tested products, as well as the newest ones they had to offer! From shaving cream to shampoo to skincare, they had it all!
I’m pretty picky when it comes to skincare so I try to get as much feedback I can about a product before fully investing. Apart from lip balm and a couple of moisturizers, I honestly don’t have much experience with Kiehl’s which is why I was excited to be able to try a new set of products! After almost an hour of pacing back and forth from shelf to shelf, I narrowed it down to 3 products! Here’s what I got:
Midnight Recovery Concentrate
This is one of their newest products and I am loving it so far! I have the tendency to be oily in my t-zone, but this worked great! You press 3 drops of this on your skin right before you go to bed, and you’re goign to see the difference in the morning. I woke up with calm, smooth, and rested skin! It improved texture and appears to be balancing out my skin tone as well. Smells amazing too. Definitely my favorite pick!
Yerba Maté Tea Cleanser
Anything that says “radiance” will definitely catch my eye. This cleanser leaves you feeling fresh, and your skin smoother! Yerba Maté has revitalizing properties that give you a healthy glow. I picked this one out since I tend to lean more towards gel products since I have a tendency to be oily. It’s a simple, no-frills foaming cleanser that does the job.
Açaí Damage-Correcting Moisturizer
I chose this product because I wanted a moisturizer that goes an extra mile. This product promotes your skin’s natural recovery process and creates a barrier between your skin and the elements. It improves skin tone and texture, and I’m definitely seeing results. It’s such a joy to put on daily since it smells great, as well. The only downside is that it doesn’t have SPF, but other than that, it’s a pretty great product. I would repurchase this for sure!
Kiehl’s has been around since 1851, and from the looks of things, they aren’t going anywhere! They have skin care down to an art, so if you have hesitations about their products, remember that they haven’t been around for this long for nothing. Kiehl’s guarantees healthier and revitalized skin in 28 days. I’m definitely sticking around to see the results!
Kiehl’s Mall of Asia is located at the 2nd floor of the main mall! See you there.
Hey everyone! It’s been awhile since we last posted anything here in our blog. We’ve both been really busy but rest assured that we will have something to show for our absence. We recently worked with Depot Fashion, Manila’s newest fashion magazine, by styling and conceptualizing a beauty editorial for their next issue which will be out in December! We’re really excited for you to see the finished product, so once it’s out in stands, we’ll definitely be the first to let you know! A big thanks to my uber fashionable friend Rumples Estacio, the EIC of Depot Fashion, for allowing us to contribute to their mag. We can’t wait to grab a copy of the new issue!
So anyway, to start off the month of November here in our blog, it’s time again for me to give a quick rundown of my favorites from the previous month! Without further ado, here are my October favorites:
(L-R): OPI Nail Polish in “Jade is The New Black” and NARS Nail Polish in “MASH”
Nars Nail Polish in MASH
This was one of the two polishes that I was loving for the month of October. I was instantly attracted to the color even if I’m not a big fan of metallic polishes. It’s a dark gold shade with hints of olive – military inspired just like the movie that the polish is named after. When I tried it for the first time, I was worried because the initial coat was very streaky and light but I was able to breathe a sigh of relief after one more coat because it came out opaque and gorgeous! Though it has quite a hefty price tag for nail polish (P900 per bottle), this shade is actually from the brand’s Vintage Polish collection for Fall 2010 so it’s highly limited. If you’re a big polish person, I suggest for you to get your hands on a bottle if you still can!
OPI Nail Polish in Jade Is The New Black
This is a true, green shade that’s really fun to sport on your nails! I was coveting this polish for the longest time, but there was always a serious drought of bright colors from the Rustan’s OPI range. After months of searching, I was finally able to find a bottle online! I bought this from Digital Traincase (http://multiply.com/digitaltraincase), which carries a lot of different make-up products that are often unavailable here. Just my luck, after I sent in my order form, Rustan’s finally had a new shipment of colorful polish, including this shade! That’s good news though for you girls out there that have been on the hunt for this polish and a bunch of other signature OPI shades like Lincoln Park After Dark and Dim Sum Plum. Check out the latest arrivals at Rustan’s, available at P395 per bottle.
MAC 168SH Brush
In last month’s favorites list, I mentioned Benefit’s Hoola bronzer. Well for the month of October, I finally got around to using a brush that works perfectly with my bronzer! The MAC 168SH is a limited edition short handle version of the regular 168 angled contour powder brush. I picked this up from the MAC Fabulous Felines collection and only started using it during the past month, but I can already say that it’s one of my favorite tools for everyday use! The brush is dense enough to create a nice contour along the cheeks and the size makes this really convenient for toting around in my make-up bag!
MAC Blankety Lipstick
My new favorite nude lipstick! It looks like a light, brownish-pink shade in the tube and applies true to color. It’s in an amplified formula so it’s very pigmented and provides a lot of coverage. Even if my lips are dry, the color just glides on since the texture is very creamy. I alternate between Faux and this shade for my everyday lipstick.
Urban Decay Naked Palette
Smokey eyeshadow is my go-to peg for make-up. Contrary to what others may say, the smokey eye look is flattering on chinitas because it actually defines the eyes, which is why I often go for this look during nights out with the girls. After searching for this palette for a long time, I was finally able to ask someone to get it for me in the States. For $44 dollars (roughly P1,900 without tax) you get 12 super pigmented shadows that complement each other really well, a double-ended eye liner pencil and one mini Primer Potion! From neutral browns to dark grays, I feel like this palette has everything I need for a shimmery, smokey look. If I’m going to do my make-up outside the house, I just tote this along with me and I’m ready to go! We don’t have Urban Decay here in Manila but if you can find someone who can bring this home for you from abroad, do so! This palette is worth every penny!
Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara
I was never really a fan of mascara up till a few months ago, and since then I was constantly on a search to find one that worked well for me. I have finally realized what all the fuss is about because a few coats of mascara really brightens up your eyes! I’ve tried a couple of different brands but lately I’ve been loving this one by Covergirl. It holds the curl all day and makes my lashes look thicker and longer. It’s also waterproof so it stays on all day without giving you raccoon eyes, but at the same time it’s easy to wash off at night! My only problem with this mascara is that the brush is quite big so when I try to coat my lashes really near the lid, I tend to leave a few marks on top of the lashline. Because of that, it gets a bit tricky to apply but it’s still a small price to pay for an amazing product!
MAC Eyebrow Crayon in Brunette
I got into doing my eyebrows because I wanted to maintain the shape that was the result of my first trip to Browhaus early this year. I used to just fill in the spaces with brow powder from Laura Mercier (in the shade Deep Blonde) but I realized that even with powder, my eyebrows didn’t look groomed enough for nights out. I tried out the MAC eyebrow crayon in Brunette and lo and behold, this became another staple for me even on regular days! I use this to draw on areas where I want my eyebrows to look even, then use the powder from Laura Mercier to make them look more full. This eyebrow crayon provides the perfect touch to achieving that perfect arch!
So those were my go-to products from the previous month! I love doing a favorites list because it allows me to share my thoughts on stuff that have really worked for me and hopefully will work for you guys too. If you have a few of your own that you’d love to share, do tell us by leaving us a comment below! Thanks and keep on checking out the blog, we’ll be posting a lot more entries in the coming days to make up for almost 3 weeks without new posts!
